This building, which is part of the Euro Disney attractions, has a very complex geometry: it is an irregular pyramid more than 35 metres high, surmounted by a large glazed roof. The pyramid is sculpted by an external walkway that creates elevated plant spaces and draws the façades, which all have different inclinations and geometries.
Simeon realised external mullion and transom-type façades in timber and glass, with a trapezoidal shape, built according to various requirements due to the intended use of the work, such as the integration of water slides, waterfalls, automatic submerged doors, motorised smoke evacuation openers and automatic entrance bushes, as well as two verrière on steel structures and the cladding of a tower in translucent polycarbonate panels.
The building’s structure is made of wood, which is why an integrated, three-dimensional design was required to verify deformations, synergies between envelope and framework, connections and critical points.
Glazed façades optimise the supply of light energy and ensure a close relationship with the outside world.
The steel load-bearing framework of the glazed roof, which rests in a large void, was assembled on site and lifted entirely to be installed at elevation.
